1. Coronavirus. The shelter-in-place restrictions for the Bay Area are just causing havoc. Grocery stores, Costco, etc. are just a nightmare. All that I've been to have had to limit entries and hoarding, based on earlier experiences. Let's change our thinking here. What IF you were ABLE to buy THREE containers of hand sanitizer for example; and gave one away to a needy person? Maybe an elderly person? Maybe a homeless person? Maybe a neighbor? Wouldn't that be so cool?! Still a way to be salt and light to those around us. Please THINK about ways you can help. Last night on my daily walk, I was thinking about what John F. Kennedy said. Remember? Or look it up. Let's not get lost in "woe is me.........I'm stuck at home.....". Your phone still works, doesn't it? Your email still works doesn't it? You're not afraid to SAY "HI", when seeing somebody on your walk, are you? (Yes at 6ft away. Social distancing).
We NEED to REMEMBER that we are Christians! There is a lot of doom and gloom right now more than ever. Okay......get over it! HELP PEOPLE! PRAY FOR PEOPLE. THANK PEOPLE! 2. People in need. In our particular case (of Missing Man Ministry-"M3"), our charter and our mission is to serve widows and orphans. However, we are always open to assist others in need, in one way or another. After all, we are Christian and that is what we are called to do. Right? To protect confidentiality, I'm going to use a fake name here for this recent person we helped (today!). Let's call her Emily. Emily reached out to me to ask for moving help. Not a Missing Man Ministry client; but a dear friend. She was forced to move out of the area to a nearby area, due to skyrocketing rents. Emily asked for help. "OF COURSE I can help! I'll also reach out to some volunteers in the Missing Man database to see if they can help. We'll be careful and I understand the Coronavirus situation; but we'll figure something out. God's got this". I sent out an email to about 50 people. Within 10 MINUTES, I had four people offer to help! EXACTLY the number I was looking for. Isn't that INCREDIBLE!? Putting personal fears/worries/concerns aside to HELP. Again, this is what we're supposed to do! I am happy to report that we moved Emily and family into their new home today. AND we had 3 additional volunteers show up to help!! No injuries and no drama. No sickness. Please remember to keep praying! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 God is in control. Thank you so much! Thank you for having a heart to serve.
